How is this verified?

Each site carries a <meta name="credited"> tag that only someone with deploy access could add. Verified means the site shipped that tag, a credit like the ones at the end of a film: this person was part of the work, not necessarily alone. CreditedBot checks it weekly; "verified since" is the first time it was found, and if the tag goes away the period stays on record. More on the crawler
